No Party, No Problem: AdPurp Celebrates Holidays Virtually to (Finally) Wrap Up 2020
The holidays are here, and there’s no way Advertise Purple wasn’t going to celebrate, even given how tough this year has been.
You know how they say “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”? I think you can switch those two verbs around in the case of 2020. We seriously can’t wait for 2021! Not because it’s guaranteed to be great, but because it can’t be much worse than last year.
Of course, we have a lot to be thankful for, growing our staff by more than a third during a global pandemic. But while many of those newbies won’t get to see how we like to get down and in particular how we get down holiday-style, we did what we could to provide some respite this winter.
Our culture is one of inclusion and genuine fun. Everyone gets along, and normally we enjoy gathering under the same roof for a festive function. This year, we couldn’t. But as I’m sure you’ll see below, we made it work.
It started with a Festive Furball holiday-themed pet contest. Here were some of the entries:
Next, we had a really clever Secret Santa event where gifts were shipped out to recipients and unboxed live over Zoom. Everyone had a little fun with it and got into the Christmas spirit. A few adult beverages were flowing and holiday outfits were highly encouraged.
Look at all of those happy faces!
Next, we followed our prompt (below) and broke out into groups to engage in a holiday happy hour.
Some pups made appearances in the happy hour groups. Which is great, because if you think about it, they wouldn’t be able to participate normally. Unless, of course we hosted our holiday party at a pet-friendly venue. Not sure those exist, though…
Anyway, check out what a group of colleagues toasting to the holidays on a Friday before a short week and the end of a difficult year looks like!
Yes, those are two pups in the last photo. Theo and Calvin, normally buddies at the office, were able to chop it up a bit over Zoom. I think Calvin had a bit too much eggnog and was mouthing off a bit to Theo, but they’ve since made amends.

In all seriousness, with the vaccine beginning to be distributed widely and a light at the end of the tunnel for lockdown in California and other parts of the US and world, we absolutely cannot wait for the holiday celebration we’ll have NEXT year.
Here’s to 2021, the rest of this 2020 holiday season, and more laughs and communal fun with one another. I know it’s been said in like every car commercial this year, but together, we can get through this!
