It used to be easy. A decade ago, when Advertise Purple had just five employees, if you wanted to know how people felt, we could take the whole office out for a drink and check in on everybody in about 20 minutes. In vino veritas, right?
But then things got trickier as our headcount grew larger and larger until it was impossible for Kyle, our founder and president, to have the kind of personal relationships with every employee that he was able to enjoy in our early days as a scrappy startup.
But just because it became more challenging doesn’t mean it ever stopped being important to make sure that Advertise Purple had an employee culture that felt welcoming and rewarding for everyone.
That’s why we started using the Net Promoter Score quarterly survey in July of 2021, as a way to benchmark our employees’ overall happiness and to learn both where we’re thriving and where we need to improve.
With 81% employee participation in this quarter’s anonymous survey, we were able to create a real snapshot of how our team felt about working at AdPurp. An eNPS score in the 30+ range is considered strong, so we were very happy to learn that in this quarter, our topline score was 46, our best number yet.
This represents a significant improvement on our previous scores of 35 from October and our first score of 39 from July. Employees gave the company particularly high marks for the people they work with and the overall company culture.
But this survey isn’t just something that we use so that we can feel good about ourselves. Kyle sees it as an important tool to learn about how he can continue to improve our culture.
“I read every review from the eNPS survey, and drill down on takeaways with the rest of the executive team. We’ve made notable strides in the workflow processes and productivity improvements from these responses, which leads me to believe, we are heading in the right direction. Of course, AdPurp is not perfect, but I am proud that we wake up each morning and try to be.”
Because the survey was anonymous, we couldn’t be sure who gave us good scores, but we did reach out to some employees to learn more about why they enjoyed working at AdPurp.
“I enjoy working at Advertise Purple because of the team and culture,” Content Partnership Manager Selena H. told us. “The culture is very forward-thinking and supportive. I really admire our leadership team for being transparent and showing appreciation for us as employees!”
Account Director Bisma M. added, “My time at Advertise Purple has been absolutely amazing. My favorite part is definitely the team I work with and our company culture. Every company-wide initiative is focused on helping the team grow and become our best selves. My favorite event was when I was able to take my team to Universal Studios Horror Nights in October! It has been an incredible experience working with my colleagues, who I truly consider to be my friends!”
As Kyle said, we’re not perfect, and we probably never will be, but one thing that we will never lose sight of is that Advertise Purple is nothing without every one of our employees who work tirelessly to deliver the results that have made us one of the top affiliate marketing firms in the country.
That’s why the happiness and satisfaction of our team is just as essential a part of our culture as our need to deliver the best results for our clients. And it’s why we will never stop working to make Advertise Purple a great company for everyone.
