Early reports from Mastercard SpendingPulse reveal that US retail sales grew by 3.8% this holiday season, which spanned from November 1 to December 24. The last five days alone account for 10% of all holiday spending. This season has underlined the importance of both early-bird offers and last-minute promotions in maximizing holiday sales.

The report measured both in-store and online sales using all payment types, providing a comprehensive look at consumer spending during the holidays. Popular gift categories like apparel, jewelry, and electronics showed notable growth during this period.

  • Apparel +3.6%

This underscores a strong preference for digital browsing when shopping for clothing.
