Over the past month, Southern California has been dealing with wildfires that disrupted countless lives—including ours at Advertise Purple. Through all the chaos and uncertainty, one thing became crystal clear: the incredible warmth, generosity, and resilience of our digital marketing community. From offers of temporary housing here in LA to spare rooms abroad (yes, we nearly took up someone’s guest house in France!), the wave of support has felt more like family than colleagues and competitors.
A Community, Not Just an Industry
We all know how fast-paced and competitive digital marketing can be—late-night campaign tweaks, conference marathons, and the occasional scramble for top placement. But underneath the KPIs and funnel metrics lies a vibrant community that genuinely cares. When these fires hit, it didn’t matter who we’d partnered with before or who was in the same niche. Everyone just jumped in with both feet to help.
“I’ve always believed in the power of collaboration, but seeing our network step up so selflessly has been a total game-changer,” says Jonathan Moisan, CEO of Advertise Purple. “We might swap best practices on the daily, but this level of real-life support is amazing.”
Unexpected Kindness, Global Reach
Let’s be honest, we’re used to connecting online—swapping emails, jumping on video calls, sometimes sharing a laugh over how crazy Q4 can get. But this time, those virtual threads turned into real-world lifelines. Folks from across the country (and across the ocean!) reached out with offers of everything from safe lodgings to moral support. It’s like we all remembered, simultaneously, that we’re humans first and marketers second.
When the Smoke Clears, We’re All Human
Let’s face it: at conferences, we might talk shop, swap LinkedIn contacts, and even have a friendly debate about attribution models. But once the hustle winds down, we’re people who look out for each other. Throughout this ordeal, our team has been blown away by how many individuals—some of whom we barely knew—stepped up to check in, share resources, or just crack a joke to lighten the mood (we needed that humor, trust us).
This entire experience has inspired us to do more. Advertise Purple has always been devoted to giving back, but now our commitment feels deeper than ever. We plan to amplify our support for both local and global initiatives, and we urge our fellow marketers to keep that generous spirit alive—whether we’re facing a major crisis or simply making someone’s day a bit brighter.
A Massive Thank You to Our Marketing Family
So, to every client, vendor, ex-team member, competitor, and distant conference buddy who reached out: thank you. We might measure our success in clicks and conversions most days, but lately, it’s the outpouring of love and kindness that truly counts. You’ve proven that when the going gets tough, this community bands together like no other.
Thank you for turning a frightening time into a testament of camaraderie. Yes, the flames were literal, but the spark of empathy we saw in our community was even more powerful. We’re proud—and beyond grateful—to be part of such an amazing network of professionals, friends, and, yes, family.
