Prime Big Deal Days 2024: Insights & Highlights

The fourth quarter of 2024 is starting off strong with the first major shopping event, Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days which happened on October 8 and 9. While the event is hosted by Amazon, there is a noticeable ripple effect across the whole e-commerce industry, with customers also motivated to shop online outside of Amazon. We also saw this during Prime Day in July, when Advertise Purple clients observed peak revenue-driving days during the event.

According to Grit Daily News, there was a 1.7% decrease in spending during Big Deal Days compared to the previous year’s event. However, for Advertise Purple clients the event saw a boost in performance. With a 15.96% increase in revenue and 22.91% increase in clicks across all 23 verticals compared to the event in 2023. Compared to the two preceding days, October 6 and 7, there was a 29.41% increase in revenue.

While Advertise Purple experienced peak October performance across all verticals during Big Deal Days on the 8th and 9th, there were three verticals that saw the greatest impact. These verticals not only had their top revenue days so far in October happen during Big Deal Days, but also saw the largest increase in revenue compared to the preceding two days. Consumer Goods saw a 261.60% spike in revenue, Sports & Outdoors increased by 98.54%, and Computer, Electronics & Software saw a 74.32% surge in revenue.

Shopping events like Prime Big Deal Days offer a unique opportunity to capture consumers’ attention and drive sales. Consumers are ready to shop and brands that align their marketing efforts with these holidays can expect an impressive increase in traffic. As Q4 continues, prepare for the biggest shopping events of the year including Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
