It’s finally here. Q4 (or Q$ as we like to think of it), is the Super Bowl of shopping seasons.
Every seller knows that when the Christmas lights go up, so do their sales, and if you don’t want your product to be left behind when buyers are searching for deals, then you need to be on top of your marketing game.
That’s why we spoke with Advertise Purple’s very own Director of Partnership Development, Manny S to get the lowdown on how you can capitalize on the hottest consumer trends this holiday season.
AP: What are you seeing as the hot gifts this holiday season?
MS: One thing you can see in the buying trends is that people have gotten really used to staying at home. We’re definitely seeing an increase in work-from-home gifts. Also, the more time people spent at home, the more they wanted to update appliances, furniture, the house itself, etc, so now they wait for the holiday discount season.
AP: Have consumers’ buying habits changed as we emerge from Covid?
MS: Covid didn’t change what shoppers bought as much as how they bought it. In 2021, most people’s natural instinct has become to shop online rather than in-store for obvious reasons. So much of this year was spent online shopping (while the boss had his head turned on Zoom), so today’s shopper is savvier than ever – they know how to find deals, they know the best review sites to check, and they definitely know the deals are coming.
AP: There are so many different ways for brands to market their products online. What type of content do you see as being the most effective right now?
MS: The most popular type of content for Q4 is hands down the listicle. When it comes to shopping for the important people in your life, consumers turn to Google, checking listicles like “Best presents for dads” or “best presents for my boyfriend’s sister-in-law.” It doesn’t matter what the relationship is, there’s an article for it and shoppers rely on them.
AP: What’s your favorite WFH gift?
MS: Personally, I love the standing desk. It’s a lifesaver for posture, blood flow, and overall productivity.
Thank you for the wisdom Manny! The bottom line is that if you’re not crushing it on Black Friday and Q4, then you don’t have a chance the rest of the year. So if you feel like your sales have plateaued or stalled, then give our team at AdPurp a call, and we’ll push you over the top this holiday season.
