Prime Day 2024: Insights & Highlights

The month of July proved to be a significant period for online shopping and driving affiliate traffic this summer, which can be marked by two events: Independence Day on July 4 and Prime Day on July 16 and 17.ย

Advertise Purple observed peak summer revenue-driving days around these events, especially on July 4, 16, and 17. These dates underscore the powerful impact of holidays and major shopping events on e-commerce activity.

According to Adobe Analytics, Prime Day 2024 set a new record with US consumers spending $14.2 billion during the two-day event, an impressive 11.8% increase from the previous year. Notably, 49.2% of these purchases were made on mobile devices, reflecting an 18.6% year-over-year growth in mobile shopping. The Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) option was utilized for 7.6% of orders, amounting to $1.08 billion, which is a 16.4% increase compared to the previous year.

While Advertise Purple saw peak July performance across all verticals during Prime Day, there were three that stole the show. Children & Baby Products saw a 17% increase, Home & Living increased by 14%, and Sleep saw a 19% increase in revenue during Prime Day. Additionally, these verticals experienced respective revenue increases of 12%, 24%, and 35% from the week leading up to Prime Day (July 8-13) compared to the halo effect period (July 14-19).

This data highlights the critical role that holidays and shopping events play in driving e-commerce sales. These occasions provide consumers with a compelling reason to shop, and they come prepared to spend. Ensuring your brand is ready for these key dates is essential for capitalizing on the heightened consumer activity and driving conversions.ย
